ReplayFM Guide

Guide and features

From finding a station to local playback: this Guide explains the available features, limits and Android permissions.

Listen to radio

Live listening

Tap a station to begin playback. The Global Mini Player remains visible and controllable while you move between Home, Search, Favorites, Archive and Settings. Use it to control playback or close the player. Recording is independent: stopping live audio does not stop an active recording. During network problems ReplayFM may buffer or reconnect.

Background use, notification and lock screen

Playback and recording can continue with the screen off. The controls shown by Android in the notification or on the lock screen vary by device. Stop in the recording notification ends all active recordings; manage an individual recording in the app. On Android 13 and later, notifications must be allowed before a recording can start.

Android Auto

In a compatible car you can browse Favorites and Archive, search, and start a station or saved recording. Available playback controls depend on the car. Recording and marker management are not available in Android Auto. Live listening and search need internet; Archive remains on the device.

Recording

Manual recording

Start listening to a station. The playback bar remains available as you move between app sections. Tap Record, choose a duration and stop the recording early if needed. Recording can continue in the background independently of live playback. Free allows one 30-minute recording. If a stream cannot be recorded, ReplayFM shows a message.

Record several stations

Premium: press and hold a station name in Favorites, select up to ten stations and tap Record. ReplayFM creates a separate recording for each station. If a duration is already saved for a station, that duration is used.

Recording duration

Free offers 30 minutes. Premium offers No limit, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 minutes. Choose the duration when starting a recording or save it in Station settings. After a reset, ReplayFM asks for the duration again the next time you record.

Schedule and Programme

Station settings

Tap a station logo in Favorites. Here you can choose the duration of the next manual recording, manage one-time recording times and open the programme guide when it is available. Changes apply only to that station and do not affect a recording already in progress.

Recording schedule

Premium: in Station settings choose a date, local time and duration from 1 minute to 23:59, then save. Android must allow exact alarms for ReplayFM to start the recording automatically. Each scheduled recording is created separately; you can delete it before it starts, but you cannot edit it or make it repeat. After Android Force stop, reopen ReplayFM so scheduled recordings can start again.

Programme guide

The programme guide is available in Free and Premium for supported stations. Times are shown in your device time zone and the source is credited. If the internet is temporarily unavailable, ReplayFM may show the last saved programme. When the connection returns, the app loads current information again. An item without a known end time can be viewed but not recorded.

Record a programme

Premium: tap a future programme, review its title and time, then confirm. ReplayFM starts recording automatically at the listed time and stops when the programme ends. If the end time is unknown, the programme information is outdated or the station does not allow recording, the app shows a clear message.

Stations with a programme guide

Programme schedules are currently available for the following supported station: Staroe Radio. The list of supported stations will expand gradually.

Archive and Markers

Archive

Archive shows the newest recordings first, together with their count, total duration, listened time and storage use. A Programme recording may show its programme title; a manual or stream-based recording may show title information received while recording. During playback, this title context may change as you move through the recording. Tap an available recording to start playback. Stop an active recording before deleting it; deletion with the cross is permanent after confirmation.

Play recordings

The Archive Player shows the title, position slider and five fixed control slots: Sleep Timer, the configurable step back, play or pause, the configurable step forward, and—when Markers exist—the next Marker. You can also add a Marker at the current position, close the player or choose a position directly on the slider. ReplayFM remembers your last position and can continue with the next recording when the current one ends. Playback works without internet; Android may also show controls in the notification or on the lock screen.

Markers

Markers help you save an important place in a recording. Add one at the current position while listening so you can return to it later. You can jump to the next or a selected marker and delete markers you no longer need. Recordings with markers are not deleted automatically.

Delete and auto-delete

In Archive, tap the cross beside an unneeded recording and confirm. The recording and its markers are deleted permanently; stop an active recording first. Auto-delete is off by default and applies only to fully listened recordings without markers.

Sleep Timer

Sleep Timer

During Live or Archive playback, tap the timer button. Choose 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, or set a custom duration from 1 minute to 6 hours. When time expires, ReplayFM stops playback even while the screen is locked. Switching station or moving between Live and Archive keeps the timer running; manually stopping or closing the player cancels it. An active recording continues independently.

Settings

Settings

Settings contains playback skip intervals, storage and auto-delete, appearance and language, and Premium. Open this Guide through Settings → About → Guide and features. About also contains the version, Support, Privacy Policy and open-source licences; Help and diagnostics contains the tools for a technical request.

Storage

Recordings are encrypted and stored in the app; file access permission is not required. Free includes 100 MiB. In Premium the limit is set in whole GiB, with a default of 5 GiB. When the limit is reached, new data cannot be saved, but existing recordings are not deleted automatically.

Diagnostics

Describe the problem and review the preview before sending. You choose whether to include app and device information. The local event log must be enabled again each time you open the form. Nothing is sent automatically, and recordings are never attached. You can delete the last report and the local log separately.

Privacy, help and FAQ

Local data and privacy

ReplayFM has no account or cloud archive. Recordings and normal app state remain local; removing the app or clearing its data destroys recordings and keys. ReplayFM uses Radio Browser for its catalogue and search, your device connects to the station while listening, and station-specific Programme information is requested from JK-LAB when needed. See the Privacy Policy for details. Diagnostics are sent only after you explicitly start submission.

Android permissions

On Android 13 and later, notifications must be allowed for recording. Exact alarms are needed only for scheduled recordings. Internet access is used for the catalogue, live listening, programme guide, Google Play and sending diagnostics. File access permission is not required.

Troubleshooting

If a station is unavailable, check your internet connection and try again later. For recording problems, check notifications; for scheduled recordings, check exact-alarm access. If Android stops playback or recording in the background, review the system background restrictions for ReplayFM. If the saved programme is no longer current, an internet connection is needed to refresh it. After Force stop, reopen ReplayFM.

Frequently asked questions

Why does recording continue after Stop Live?

Live and Recording are independent. Stop recording with its own red action.

Will the Sleep Timer stop an active recording?

No. The Sleep Timer controls playback only. An active recording continues.

Must the screen stay on?

No. Playback and recording support background operation.

Can I lock the phone?

Yes. Android may show controls in the notification and on the lock screen.

Why does ReplayFM need exact-alarm access?

Only to start a scheduled recording automatically at the chosen time. It is not needed for live listening or manual recording.

Why does this station have no programme guide?

A programme guide is available only for supported stations. The list will expand gradually.

Why can I see a programme but not record it?

The end time may be unknown, the programme information may be outdated, you may be using Free, or the station may not allow recording.

Why can I see the programme guide without internet?

ReplayFM may show the last saved programme. When the connection returns, the app loads current information again.

Where are my recordings stored?

They are encrypted and stored in the app, not as normally accessible audio files.

What happens if I remove the app or clear its data?

Recordings and keys are lost permanently and cannot be restored from the cloud.

What can I do when storage is full?

Delete recordings you no longer need or change the Premium storage limit. ReplayFM does not clear Archive merely because storage is full.

Why can I not record a station?

Not every station or stream allows recording. ReplayFM shows a message when recording is unavailable.

How do I restore Premium?

Settings → Premium → Restore purchase; Google Play and network are required.

Why can I save only five favorite stations in Free?

Free supports up to five favorite stations. Premium removes this limit.

How is a recording schedule different from the programme guide?

For a recording schedule, you choose the date, time and duration. The programme guide lists broadcasts from a supported station.

Can I schedule a recording every day or every week?

Not yet. Each scheduled recording is created separately for the selected date and time.
