Privacy Policy for ReplayFM

Last updated: 31 August 2026 · The German version is the governing legal text.

1. Scope and controller

This Privacy Policy applies to the ReplayFM Android app. The controller is Jürgen Kaiser, JK-LAB, Am Weißen Bild 7, 88400 Biberach an der Riß, Germany. Legal enquiries may be sent to info@jk-lab.de, and app questions to support@jk-lab.de. Further provider details are available in the Imprint.

2. Data stored locally

ReplayFM generally keeps the data needed for app features on the device. This may include app settings, language and appearance preferences, Favorites, the country selected for Home, recording settings and recordings, playback positions, Markers, one-time recording schedules, Programme data, Premium entitlement state, and a local diagnostic and event log. A recording may also retain a programme title or stream-title information received while it was made, and the app may keep technical information about cached station artwork. Normal app data and recordings are not sent to JK-LAB merely because they are stored. Internet connections for specific features are described separately below.

3. Recordings

Manual recordings, scheduled recordings and Programme recordings are created only after the user makes the corresponding choice. They are encrypted in the app’s internal storage and remain there until removed through ReplayFM or together with the app data. ReplayFM does not upload recording content to JK-LAB. A recording may include its programme title or title information supplied by the stream while recording. Exporting and sharing recordings are not supported in the current release; Android backup and device transfer are disabled for this data.

4. Internet connections, station catalogue and radio streams

ReplayFM uses Radio Browser as the source for its station catalogue and search. Catalogue or search requests may include the station search text entered by the user, selected catalogue or filter criteria, and ordinary technical transport information required for internet communication. ReplayFM does not add a ReplayFM account identity to these requests; ReplayFM has no user accounts. When listening or recording, the device connects to the selected radio station or stream provider. That provider can technically see information such as the IP address and normal connection data. ReplayFM does not route the ordinary radio stream through JK-LAB merely for listening. Radio Browser, radio stations and stream providers remain responsible under their own privacy terms.

5. Station artwork

ReplayFM normally uses station artwork or a favicon supplied by Radio Browser. Only when that artwork is missing, invalid or cannot be loaded may ReplayFM contact the radio station’s website as needed and retrieve an icon declared by the site or its conventional favicon. The request is made only to display station artwork. ReplayFM does not add account information, a station name or identifier as a tracking parameter, the app language, user or device identifiers, ReplayFM cookies, authentication credentials, a Referer or analytics identifiers, and it does not execute JavaScript for this purpose. Website HTML, page text and scripts are not retained. A small local technical cache may retain the resolved artwork address, result status and timestamp.

6. Programme information

When the user opens Programme or schedule information for a supported station, ReplayFM may request station-specific programme information from the ReplayFM service provided by JK-LAB. The request may contain the station identifier needed to select the schedule and ordinary technical network metadata. Audio, ReplayFM account information and additional user or device identifiers are not sent for this purpose.

7. Google Play and purchases

Premium is a one-time purchase processed by Google Play. Google Play handles payment under its own terms. ReplayFM or JK-LAB may receive the purchase and entitlement information needed to determine or restore Premium access. JK-LAB does not receive or store full payment-card details. To determine eligibility for temporary regional Premium access, ReplayFM may obtain the country provided by Google Play through the Google Play Billing Library. This country is processed only on the device for the current eligibility check. ReplayFM does not store it, include it in diagnostics or analytics, or send it to JK-LAB. ReplayFM separately downloads a global Bootstrap configuration from jk-lab.de; that request does not include the Google Play country, app language, account ID or install ID.

8. Analytics, advertising and diagnostics

ReplayFM contains no advertising network or advertising SDK, no tracking or analytics SDK, no automatic behavioural telemetry, and no automatic crash-reporting service. A diagnostic report is sent only after the user explicitly starts submission and reviews the preview. Additional app and device information is included only when selected. The local event log is attached to a report only through a separate opt-in switch that is off by default and must be selected again each time the form is opened. Reports and the log are not sent automatically or in the background, and recordings are never attached. Submitted information is used solely to handle the technical request.

9. App permissions

Internet access is used for the station catalogue, search, live listening, recording, Programme information, Google Play and user-initiated diagnostic submission. Visible foreground operation and notifications allow playback and recording to continue with the screen off where required by the Android version. Exact alarms are needed only so a saved recording schedule can start at the chosen time. ReplayFM does not need location, camera, microphone, contacts or general file-access permissions.

10. Local-data retention and accounts

Recordings can be removed in Archive; other local data is removed through the relevant app controls or by clearing ReplayFM’s Android app data. Uninstalling the app may permanently remove all local recordings and keys. The local station-artwork cache may be replaced or expire. ReplayFM has no user accounts, so there is no ReplayFM account to delete.

11. Deletion of diagnostic data

ReplayFM has no user accounts. Normal ReplayFM data such as Favorites, recordings, schedules, Archive data, the country selected for Home and playback state remain on the device and are not stored by JK-LAB as user-account data. A diagnostic report is different: it leaves the device only when you explicitly select “Send report” in ReplayFM and start submission.

To delete the last submitted report early:

  1. Open Settings in ReplayFM.
  2. Open “Help and diagnostics”.
  3. Tap “Last sent report”.
  4. Confirm with “Delete sent report”.

The same deletion action is also available on the confirmation screen immediately after a successful submission. ReplayFM uses the report information stored locally on the device to identify that specific report. After a successful deletion, the active diagnostic report and all its content – including the description, selected technical data and any optional event log attachment – are removed from the active database.

Reports that are not deleted earlier are automatically deleted no later than 30 days after submission. After an early deletion, only a pseudonymised deletion record without report content remains for up to 90 days so that a deleted report is not restored during backup reconciliation. Earlier copies may remain temporarily in backups until the relevant backup cycle ends.

If ReplayFM or the report information stored locally on the device is no longer available, ReplayFM cannot identify a specific report for early deletion; the report will still be deleted automatically no later than 30 days after submission. This process applies only to the diagnostic report stored by JK-LAB. It does not delete data held by Radio Browser, radio stations, Google Play, or stream or CDN providers; their own rules apply.

12. Children

ReplayFM is not specifically directed at children and does not create child or other user accounts.

13. Changes to this Policy

This Policy may be updated when features, processes or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page.

14. Contact

Privacy enquiries may be sent to info@jk-lab.de. For help with ReplayFM, contact support@jk-lab.de or visit the Support page.
